The AKP Group, one of the UK’s biggest vertically integrated potato supply chain specialists, has completed the acquisition of Wolds Produce.
Established in 1999 by Richard Arundel and Bruce Kerr, the AKP Group is a North Lincolnshire potato grower and supply chain specialist, delivering potatoes to the retail, processing and food service sectors in the UK and overseas.
Wolds Produce was founded as a potato trading business in 2004 offering crops from the Yorkshire Wolds to packers. Today, it trades over 50,000 tonne of potatoes – making it a major potato supplier to the crisping, chipping and potato seed sectors.
Expertise
By combining the expertise, resources and experience of the two companies, the AKP Group aims to build a stronger, more resilient supply chain, ultimately contributing to the growth of the UK potato industry.
AKP Group managing director Richard Arundel said: “By scaling up our operation across storage, washing, grading and distribution, we can help our growers and partners to minimise risk, reduce their costs and make it happen for UK farming.”
Mr Arundel said the acquisition was a strategic step towards the goal of becoming the go-to partner within the UK potato industry. “We are excited that Wolds Produce shares this focus and we are excited about the opportunities this partnership will bring.”
Wolds Produce will continue to operate independently under AKP Group.
