Weaving Machinery has announced the launch of its Mounted GD Disc Drill – available now and designed for smaller farmes requiring a compact machines.
A host of new features includes a tubular coulter frame which deters any material from sitting on the machine and a two-section folding mechanism for easy calibration and hopper emptying.
“The Mounted GD was brought to the market in 2015 and has proved immensely popular, said Weaving Machinery sales director Simon Weaving. “The new model has taken all the proven features and refined them to enhance operator experience.”
Available in 3m and 4m working widths, the new Mounted GD comes complete with an ergonomic 2000L plastic tank. This is the same as Weavings Sabre Drill, for better weight distribution, longevity and through-flow of material.
The tank is fitted with heavy duty steel lids, along with a side door, allowing easy access for maintenance and cleaning. Rear folding steps and two-stage platform give operators ample room while filling the hopper.
The Mounted GD carries the patented GD coulter system, making it amn extremely lowest disturbance direct drill. This system has been upgraded to include a gas spring, making it easier to set up and more reliable than the previous hydraulic cylinders.
The new coulter system also offers a more responsive and constant coulter pressure for even better seed placement, said Mr Weaving. Seed distribution is powered by RDS Artemis Lite controls with electric metering.
A 6-inch hydraulic fan delivers the seed to the coulters. Controls can be upgraded to Isocan GPS metering, which includes a larger user interface, allows multiple product application and is Isobus compatible.
“Every machine at Weaving is built with real farmers in mind,” said Simon. “We’re proud to support more robust performance for British farmers, with high-spec machinery that’s easy to use and maintain.”
For eligible farmers and farm contractors in England, the Mounted GD Disc Drill is eligible for the Farming Equipment and Technology Fund (FETF) and the application window is open until 4 April.
The drill will be showcased by the Weaving sales team at the Cereals event and Groundswell.
